The Living get going

After going from THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE to the big-budget action flick THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, director Scott Derrickson is returning to his roots. Derrickson will direct the supernatural thriller THE LIVING. The project is based on a pitch by Derrickson and Paul Harris Boardman, who both wrote EMILY ROSE. Sadly we know little about the film as they’re keeping the storyline underwraps. But through a top-secret source, I’ve heard it will have something to do with “the living.”

Though Derrickson will be developing the film for Lakeshore, it’s not definite that will be his next directorial effort. He’s also attached to direct a remake of the Danish comedy-thriller THE SUBSTITUTE, about an alien who takes over the body of a beautiful sixth-grade substitute teacher. Sam Raimi’s Ghost House, which released the original direct-to-DVD, would produce that remake. He’s also developing a film version of PARADISE LOST but that film seems stuck in development hell.
