The Munsters reboot will be directed by Rob Zombie

The Munsters, reboot, Rob Zombie

With its blending of classic monsters and wholesome American sitcoms, The Munsters remains a beloved series and spawned several films, sequel series, and reboots since its 1964 debut. Well, we've got another incarnation of The Munsters on the way as Rob Zombie has revealed that his next film will be a reboot of the classic series. Zombie has been a huge fan of The Munsters for years, and there have been rumours that he would be directing a new take on the franchise for quite some time, but now it's finally official.

The original series starred Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster, Yvonne De Carlo as Lily Munster, Al Lewis as Grandpa, Butch Patrick as Eddie Munster, and Beverley Owen/Pat Priest as Marilyn Munster. The original run of The Munsters lasted for just two seasons consisting of 70 episodes before it was cancelled, which Butch Patrick later attributed to the popularity of Batman. "I think ‘Batman’ was to blame," Patrick told Fox News in 2019. "’Batman' just came along and took our ratings away." I'm not entirely certain what Rob Zombie's vision for The Munsters will look like, but I must admit that I'm intrigued.
