Rob Zombie, The Munters, First look

Rob Zombie is hard at work on his big-screen adaptation of The Munsters and he's sharing some of the progress on the project including costumes and a look at Herman Munster's makeup.

Once news dropped that Zombie was writing and directing a film based on the popular '60s sitcom, the director revealed that he would be constructing all of Mockingbird Lane. His most recent look showed a dirt road in Budapest, Hungary where the movie is being filmed. Zombie posted a video showing what the actual street will look like once it's built using computer graphics and that can be seen in the post below!

Zombie also shared a look at some of the costume designs for the film with sketches of what Lily and Herman Munster wear once they turn in for the night. The costume designer for the film has yet to be revealed but the sketches showcase Herman's nightgown complete with skull buttons and Lily's floor-length robe is made just right with spiderweb embroidered finishes. You can check out a look at the sketches in Zombie's Instagram post below!

Next up, Zombie gives us a look at Grandpa Munster's wig. Zombie captions the post with, "The wig work has begun! Can anyone guess which character this is? Obviously, you can." You can get a look at Grandpa Munster's wig work below!

Perhaps the best look comes of Herman Munster's forehead. Zombie shares the dramatic forehead design with a caption that reads, "The clay is out and the sculpting has begun on a very prominent brow for THE MUNSTERS." You can check out Zombie's showcase of Herman Munster's brow below!

Rob Zombie appears to be providing frequent updates of the production on his Instagram page so this may be one you want to follow to track his progress. No casting for the film has been revealed but the film will follow a family of benign monsters who relocate from Transylvania to the American suburbs. The film is based on the short-lived but iconic series that ran from 1964-1966.
