The Neomorph chows down in new Alien: Covenant photos

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

ALIEN: COVENANT arrives May 19. Yesterday was April 19. Today is April 20. That we means we are officially less than one month away from the movies full release, and needless to say I’m shaking in my little space boots. To celebrate the impending ALIEN goodness, here are some new images from the film courtesy of Empire, which is making ALIEN their featured film for this month’s issue.

Here is the first, which shows a mysterious being unleashed pods onto the Engineer’s home planet

Next we see Michael Fassbender as one of his dual roles, the android David, speaking with Guy Pearce’s Peter Weyland, most likely in some sort of memory/flashback scene.

Finally we get some bloody visuals of Neomorph devouring some poor soul.

Writer John Logan spoke to the design on the creature, citing “grotesque” underwater creatures like goblin sharks or anglerfish:

Some of those nature videos are so stomach-churning that they don’t pay me enough to watch them. But Ridley will see something to do with insects swarming, for example, which eventually finds its way into a movie. Usually there’s some sort of grotesqueness we find interesting.

This next month will be a long wait, even with movies like GUARDIANS to keep me company.  I’ve dug virtually everything I’ve seen of this movie thus far on the promotional front. Trailers have looked freaky and violent; images have added more and more layers to the mystery; posters have brought credence to a minimalist, artistic style. All of it has been on-point. Now to lock myself in my room for one month. Send Oreos.

ALIEN: COVENANT arrives May 19 with Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, James Franco, Danny McBride and more.
