The Rock versus Taylor Lautner in a new David and Goliath movie?

Because it sort of makes sense, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson could be turning heel on the big screen to get in the ring with a substantially smaller opponent.

According to Twitch, Johnson may be bringing his considerable mass to GOLIATH, the upcoming big-screen version of the biblical story.

And while The Rock will obviously play the lethal muscular brute of Relativity's intended epic, Twitch also claims that It Kid Taylor Lautner is being pursued for the part of Israel's future king David, the shepherd who ultimately takes down his oversized foe with just a sling and stone. SPOILER!

And considering the project is has TWILIGHT producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen involved, they might just get the beefy youngster for the role.

Scott Derrickson (THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL) is directing the retelling of the famous tale, sure to be done in an exaggerated 300 visual style.

Extra Tidbit: Orson Welles directed his own scenes playing King Saul in a 1960 Italian version of the biblical story. Maybe this version can get Liam Neeson...
