The Scream TV series has a director and cast of new faces

Since the announcement of MTV’s SCREAM series many have bene wondering about the tone of the show and if any characters from the movie would be represented on the show. SCREAM is one of my favorite movies and it has been hard to get excited for this considering the slate of garbage on MTV at the moment. Regardless, when news comes in about the series, I’m jumping on it, hoping to hear that the Ghostface legacy won’t be butchered.

MTV and Dimension TV have announced Jamie Travis will officially direct the pilot episode of the series. He’s responsible for the 2012 comedy FOR A GOOD TIME, CALL… and has directed episodes of something called MTV’s Faking It. Jay Beattie (Revenge) and Dan Dworkin (The Event) wrote the script, and judging by the insufferable character descriptions for the series, it probably didn’t take them that long.

Willa Fitzgerald (Royal Pains) as EMMA DUVAL (second from left) – a classic beauty whose looks and popularity hide a natural shyness and intellectual nature. Her new life with the “in crowd” leaves her estranged her from childhood best friend Audrey.

Amy Forsyth (Reign) as AUDREY JENSEN (first from left) – the daughter of a Lutheran pastor, Audrey is an artsy loner who aspires to be a filmmaker.

John Karna (The Neighbors) as NOAH FOSTER (first from right) – creative computer genius with a vast knowledge of pop culture and the tech world. Best friends with Audrey.

Carlson Young (The Kroll Show) as BROOKE MADDOX (middle) – charismatic leader of the popular crew whose personality vacillates between bubbly sweetness and ferocious sex appeal.

Amadeus Serafini as KIERAN WILCOX (second from right) – the mysterious new kid in town, Kieran’s got a dark side and a tough exterior that hints at experience beyond his years.

I know these are small and uncreative descriptions just to give a sense of character (I think), but man, I can tell I’m not going to like these kids. I will wait for an official synopsis before I pull the plug on this one.
