The strong rise up in this trailer for The Birth of a Nation

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Set against the antebellum South, THE BIRTH OF A NATION follows Nat Turner (Nate Parker), a literate slave and preacher whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner (Armie Hammer), accepts an offer to use Nat's preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities, Nat orchestrates an uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom. Get a glimpse of the struggle with the new trailer for THE BIRTH OF A NATION.

The first trailer for Nate Parker's film hit pretty hard in terms of content and performances, and this trailer is no different. We get to see more of the struggle these slaves are enduring as well as a glimpse of the relationship Nat Turner has with his masters. While the end seems inevitable, I'm fascinated to watch it all unfold once the film hits theaters this fall.

THE BIRTH OF A NATION will open in theaters on October 7, 2016.
