The trailer for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s The Last Stand explodes online!

He’s back!  The first trailer for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s return to leading man status in THE LAST STAND is here!  Since his last feature film in 2003, Schwarzenegger has popped in and out of films with cameo’s, but this marks his reemergence as an action star, which seems to fit him like an old hat.  Directed by Kim Jee-Woon (I SAW THE DEVIL), the pic looks to be a riotous good time with some cheeky one liners and lots and lots of explosions.

Get back:

I’m more excited to see ol’ Arnie back on the big screen than I anticipated and I think this is the perfect film for his return.  With a heavy slate of pics on his schedule already, he’s showing no signs of wearing down, even if his aged appearance may indicate as much.  It’s great to see Schwarzenegger embrace his age and roll with the next evolution of his career.

Welcome back, Arnold!

Here’s the synopsis:

Action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger makes his much-anticipated return to the big screen in Korean director Kim Jee-woon’s hard-hitting US directorial debut, THE LAST STAND. After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy. With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow.

Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Forest Whitaker, Peter Stormare, Genesis Rodriguez, Jaimie Alexander, Harry Dean Stanton, Rodrigo Santoro, Eduardo Noriega, and Johnny Knoxville, THE LAST STAND hits theaters on January 18, 2013.
