Thor & Hulk face off in new Thor: Ragnarok poster from D23 Expo

Thor: Ragnarok Chris Hemsworth

I've mentioned several times before that I've found the standalone THOR movies to be the weakest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is a shame as Chris Hemsworth is fantastic as Thor, and the rest of the cast, as well as the world itself, is pretty great as well. Unfortunately I've never been completely blown away by either THOR or THOR: THE DARK WORLD, but I'm expecting that the upcoming THOR: RAGNAROK might just turn the tide. With an added dose of cosmic weirdness as well as a great new cast, including Cate Blanchett as Hela, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, and of course, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, the upcoming Taika Waititi film is looking like it could be quite the treat.

The fifth annual D23 Expo kicked off today at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, which is where you just might be able to lay your hands on this exclusive THOR: RAGNAROK poster from Andy Park.

If Andy Park's name isn't familiar with you, it should be. The artist joined the Visual Development team at Marvel Studios back in 2010 to help develop the look and feel of the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by designing characters, costumes, and key-frames for action sequences. Park has been a part of just about every MCU film since joining up, including THE AVENGERS, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, and DOCTOR STRANGE. As for when we might get another glimpse at THOR: RAGNAROK, well, with D23 currently underway and San Diego Comic-Con set to kick off next week, it's a good bet that we'll be seeing something fairly soon.

Speaking of Comic-Con, the JoBlo team will be there again this year to cover all the panels, interviews, and more in order to bring that experience home to those of you who can't make it. Be sure to follow along with all the Comic-Con craziness here on the site, as well as on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.

The official synopsis for THOR: RAGNAROK:

In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

THOR: RAGNAROK will hit theaters on November 3, 2017.
