Tilda Swinton teases what a prequel to Snowpiercer might be like

Taking place in a dystopian future where a train seems to carry the last traces of human life, SNOWPIERCER proved to be one of the strongest vehicles (so to speak) for Chris Evans, and one of the greatest films of the year. The movie also gave the wonderful Tilda Swinton a great character to chew on in the form of Mason. I'm not going to spoil the film for you if you haven't seen it, but actress Tilda Swinton recently spoke up regarding the fact that her and director Joon-ho Bong toy with the idea of a prequel.

Tilda Swinton on her thoughts about a prequel for her character:

[Joon-ho Bong and I] still talk about it. It's a fantasy in our minds about a prequel and so there’s this very big ice day coming, who knows? You know lots of fancies in our mind. Who knows if it’ll ever happen but imagine such a thing. Imagine a prequel. Imagine — and you know what? I can imagine everything about Mason. Mason could be anybody and anything. Anybody or anything could actually turn into Mason and Mason’s like a sort of weird, morphed, mutant, free radical sickness. And who knows how he or she started out? A really mild-mannered man in a suit, which is the way it’s written in the script — it’s still written as a mild-mannered man in a suit.

Now, I don't think there's a chance in SNOWPIERCER's frozen hell that this is going to happen, but I love the idea that an actor and director will continue talking about a film and its themes and characters well after it's done. There's a mentality in Hollywood that the gears are always turning and an actor/director is only as good as their last film, but believe it or not, they can be people too! And something about the character of Mason stuck with Tilda, so much so that she still feels the need to talk it out with her director. That, in itself, is kind of beautiful. Now whether you have or haven't seen it, it's time to give SNOWPIERCER a spin! Our US readers will find it ready and waiting on Netflix!

SNOWPIERCER is now available on Blu-ray/DVD!
