Tim Burton and Seth Grahame-Smith may reteam for a stop-motion monster movie

In an interview with THR, author Seth Grahame-Smith discussed the projects sitting on his docket, including a script for a stop-motion animated monster flick with Tim Burton.  NIGHT OF THE LIVING “is an idea I have had around for years that I’m doing with Tim Burton. When we were shooting Dark Shadows last year I worked up the nerve to tell Tim about it because I always thought it would make a good movie. When I saw what he had done with Frankweenie and Corpse Bride, it always struck me as a great idea for that form. I’m writing it at Warner’s Bros. for him (as a stop-motion monster movie),” said Grahame-Smith.

Grahame-Smith is writing the script for his recently optioned book, Unholy Night, which is being produced by David Heyman’s Heyday.  Once complete they’ll start shopping for a director.  The other much-lauded project on Grahame-Smith’s plate is the long-awaited BEETLEJUICE sequel, which comes, “after Unholy Night in my schedule. The first opportunity to tackle that will probably be later this year.”

It seems that Tim Burton may have found a new creative partner as Grahame-Smith is attached to everything on the director’s upcoming schedule, along with the already complete ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER (which Burton produced) and DARK SHADOWS.  Grahame-Smith has already lit up the literary world with his historical fiction mash-ups, so it’ll be interesting to see how well his work translates to the big screen, which is as-yet unproven.

More as these projects develop.
