After Roger Moore officially retired as James Bond 007 following the release of A View to a Kill, EON productions had to find themselves a new 007. There were many contenders, including Sam Neill, and Pierce Brosnan was even hired to play the part, only to lose it when NBC opted to order more episodes of Remington Steele. Eon turned to a man who had apparently been their first choice all along, Timothy Dalton, whose James Bond would be a far gritter, more ground take on Ian Fleming's classic character. So join us on James Bond Revisited as we dive into his underrated first instalment as James Bond – The Living Daylights. As you'll see, Timothy Dalton's 007 run is among the most consistent in the whole series!
