T.J. Miller confirms his role as sidekick Weasel in Deadpool

Since his casting was announced, many have theorized that T.J. Miller‘s role in DEADPOOL would be decidedly humorous in nature. Some went as far as to assume he would be playing unfortunate sidekick Weasel which now looks to be official. Miller, currently starring on HBO’s Silicon Valley, responded to a Twitter comment about his weight that seems to reveal the role.

The character of Weasel (aka Jack Hammer) was created in 1993 and has become Deadpool’s key resource for weapons, intelligence, and other technological assistance. His origin was as a class-mate of Peter Parker’s at Midtown High where he pursued the same internship as the future Spider-man at Oscorp. He also had a crush on Gwen Stacy that was ruined by Wade Wilson. The role comes with an option for three sequels, so if DEADPOOL is a hit we can expect to see a lot more of T.J. Miller.

Miller had a busy 2014 with roles in TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION and a voice part in BIG HERO 6. He continues to tour as a stand-up comedian. DEADPOOL seems like a perfect fit for his sense of humor and he should play well opposite Ryan Reynolds. It remains to be seen how his origin will play out in the film, but I expect it to be raunchy and hilarious.

DEADPOOL opens on February 12, 2016.
