Tom Cruise and Doug Liman reunite for El Presidente; Jack Nicholson eyed for role

Doug Liman and Tom Cruise are teaming up once again for a comedy titled EL PRESIDENTE.

The movie would star Cruise as, “a straight-arrow Secret Service agent who is assigned to protect America’s worst former president, an alcoholic and womanizing sleazebag who was elevated from VP when the president died. When a threat is made on his life, the duo must go on the run.”

There’s a slight catch here though– it’s being said that Cruise won’t do the movie unless Jack Nicholson signs on to play the role of the president. Both Liman and Cruise recently paid a visit to the 76-year old actor to try to convince him to come aboard the comedy. Insiders say that Nicholson only agreed to take a look at the script. That’s it.

The project has been in development since 2010, and originally had Jay Roach (MEET THE PARENTS) attached to direct. Liman was recently hired as director.

This could be a cool thing since it would reunite Cruise and Nicholson who were both in 1992s A FEW GOOD MEN. Will they throw in a “You can’t handle the truth!” joke? I do hope they get him.
