Tom Cruise and Jimmy Fallon perform Mission: Impossible Mad Lib skit

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Comedian and host of The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon, and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT star Tom Cruise, have once again joined forces for an outrageously hilarious skit. While promoting his new action blockbuster, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT, Cruise indulged Fallon by joining him for another round of the late night host's "Mad Lib" game, where guests suggest a series of words and phrases to be randomly inserted into zany narratives. After they've made their selections, the duo act out a scene using the "Mad Lib" material. This time around, Fallon and Cruise are on a train, with the former SNL alum there to deliver the details of Cruise's next impossible assignment.

For me, the primary draw of this skit lies in watching the pair try to keep their shit together, as they ride the makeshift train. After all, Fallon is notorious for breaking down in the face of comedy throughout his SNL years, and if I'm being honest, Cruise often crumples like rice paper in an origami class when met with others overcome with laughter. It's a fun way to watch the duo interact for sure, and a hell of a funny promo for director Christopher McQuarrie's upcoming film.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT starring Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Angela Bassett, Vanessa Kirby, Michelle Monaghan, Wes Bentley, Frederick Schmidt, and Alec Baldwin will arrive in theaters this Friday, July 27th.
