Image released of new Tom Hanks flick; bonus slice of Patrick Wilson

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

CLOUD ATLAS was an ambitious project, to say the least.  I think it was a film I admired more than enjoyed, but all three directors have projects in the works that I'm willing to check out.  The Wachowskis have another slice of Sci-Fi headed our way in the form JUPITER ASCENDING, starring Channing "Gambit" Tatum and Mila Kunis. The wait wont be long as that flick descends into theaters July 18 of this year. The other third of the CLOUD ATLAS directing team, Tom Tykwer, is now in production on his follow-up feature, A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING.  From the looks of it, this film will feature more Tom Hanks and less . . . Tom Hanks in heavy make-up.

Take in the Hanks here:

The synopsis is as follows:

A failed American businessman looks to recoup his losses by traveling to Saudi Arabia and selling his idea to a wealthy monarch.

It's a little early to tell how the film is shaping up, but Tom Hanks is one of the most beloved actors of our time, and any role he takes garners interest.  A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING is currently slated to be released sometime in 2015.

Now what do Patrick Wilson and Tom Hanks have in common?  They're in the same article (here all week, folks).  Also released is an image of Patrick Wilson walking alongside the ridiculous enigmatic Ian McShane (insert obligatory "he was phenomenal in Deadwood" quote here . . . because he was) in the film, THE MAN ON CARRION ROAD.

In case you're wondering why they're wearing cowboy hats, here's the story details:

THE MAN ON CARRION ROAD follows a retired sheriff (McShane) and his replacement (Wilson) as they investigate a cartel deal gone wrong, while hunted by a vicious hit man (Leguizamo).

Do you think that's the titular road they're walking down? It's anybody's guess at this point. I also don't know what the deal is with McShane's character, but the man's voice belongs in western territory. THE MAN ON CARRION ROAD will also star Lynn Collins, John Leguizamo and James Belushi, and is set to be released sometime in 2014.

The princess of Mars herself, Lynn Collins.
