Trailer for Making a Murderer Pt. 2 sucks you back into the global sensation

MAKING A MURDERER has been a smashing success for Netflix, delivering a riveting true crime series that explored the cases of Stephen Avery and Brendan Dassey, two men sentenced for the murder of Teresa Halbach. Many people believe they have been falsely convicted, and now the trailer for the second season shows the continuation of the story as a legal team attempts the incredibly difficult task of overturning the convictions. As the tagline for the show says, “The conviction was only the beginning.”

The first season was an immensely binge-worthy true crime series, and like most people around the world, I will likely check out part two. That being said, I’m not convinced Avery is as innocent as some people believe and felt the ending of season one was more interesting because it left you feeling it was not such an open and shut case. With season two, creators Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos seem to be in the “innocent” camp, and though new evidence could come to light that makes him seem much more innocent than guilty, I don’t really know how to feel about that approach. On another note, I’m more curious about the case of Dassey, as he was coerced into confessing, and his story is far more compelling.

Here’s the season synopsis:

Netflix presents the highly-anticipated second chapter of the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning original documentary series Making a Murderer, which followed the unprecedented journey of Steven Avery from DNA exoneree and reformer to convicted murderer. Emmy Award-winning filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos return to the Midwest where they have exclusive access to Steven Avery and his co-defendant and nephew Brendan Dassey, their families and the legal teams fighting for justice on their behalf.  Over the course of 10 new episodes, Making a Murderer Part 2 provides an in-depth look at the high-stakes postconviction process, exploring the emotional toll the process takes on all involved.

MAKING A MURDERER PART 2 hits Netflix October 19.
