Trey Parker and Matt Stone are ready to bring the Book of Mormon to the big screen

Yes! Another movie from SOUTH PARK creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. The downside is that it's still going to be several years before they actually get on it.

The guys want to adapt their broadway hit, THE BOOK OF MORMON for the big screen. The story is about, "a pair of Mormon missionaries attempting to find converts in Uganda." A national tour of the broadway show will start next Summer in Denever, Colorado. Parker said this about the run and made comment of the film, “Hopefully it will have a big run and a big tour and then we can do the movie in several years."

The last time we saw a movie from Parker and Stone was 2004s TEAM AMERICA. Producer Scott Rudin (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) helped the pair on that film as well as SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER, & UNCUT.

Rudin will definitely be a part of the BOOK OF MORMON film when the time comes according to Stone, “We want to do it some day. The great thing is, a lot of Broadway teams would have to go team up with a Hollywood producer and bring on a Hollywood director, but Trey’s a director and Scott’s a great producer. We’ve all made movies. So it’s kind of cool, it can stay in the same family.”
