Unfaithful red carpet!

Sandwiched in between two of the most anticipated films of the entire summer (SPIDER-MAN and STAR WARS, EPISODE 2: ATTACK OF THE CLONES) is the small, sexy thriller UNFAITHFUL. While you might think the competition against these two Goliaths would be HOLLYWOOD ENDING-esque toast, UNFAITHFUL looks to be the David. It may not slay the might beasts - OK, it won’t - but all things considering it’s doing well for itself. Diane Lane is racking up much of the kudos for her turn as the tempted wife which, as JoBlo describes in his review, is “easily the best performance by an actress that I've seen so far this year.”

UNFAITHFUL was given the red-carpet treatment this Monday in New York City at the prestigious Ziegfeld Theater. On hand were stars Richard Gere and Diane Lane as well as celebs like Dennis Hopper, Hilary Swank, and…oh yeah, me.

Unfortunately at these type of events the online participants (there were only a handful of us, with UGO.com being the only one that immediately comes to mind) tend to get the short end of the stick. While Fox was very good to us at the premiere (I had my own little reserved spot marked with a “JoBlo.com” tag!), celebrity publicists were not. Online was at the end of the carpet so by the time Richard Gere got done gabbing with Nancy O’Dell from Access Hollywood (who oddly enough walked the red carpet and then returned to her spot with the journalists to interview the rest of the carpet-walkers), there wasn’t much time left for us. Plus, we were stationed right next to the photographer’s pit so the celebs were often pulled aside to pose for pictures. So don’t look for any insightful Barbara Walters style interviews here. This is the most successful conversation I had all evening:

ME - “Are you nervous to watch the movie with all these people?”
DIANE LANE - “Extremely. I might slip out halfway, so don’t say anything.” This was followed by a sexy little wink that I thought might have meant I might slip out halfway so meet me in that alley but more likely meant I think I have an eyelash in my eye.

Below are a few pictures snapped at the event (graciously photographed by MP Thibodeau) with some of my fond recollections and thoughts…

Carey Lowell
Carey Lowell

This is Richard Gere's wife Carey Lowell. She looks ten times better in person than she does in this picture. She was a Bond girl back in the day. Unfortunately it was in the Timothy Dalton era of Bond in LICENSE TO KILL. She quit acting biz to stay at home with their kids.

Dennis Hopper
Dennis Hopper

Dennis Hopper tried sneaking in (as you can see from the blurry nature of this picture he was moving briskly) so I didn't get to ask him how "24" ends. In fact I only noticed it was him until he was a few feet from the entrance. I'm not sure if it was his wife or daughter with him, but whoever she was, she was a hottie.

Joan Rivers
Joan Rivers

Man she's weird looking in person. Seems like a nice enough woman but the botox has rendered her face practically useless. It looks like she's wearing a Halloween mask and she's just looking and talking through little slits. She was also carrying this Fabrege egg so gaudy that Liberace would say was a bit over the top.

Frank Langella
Frank Langella

All I kept thinking was "I've seen this guy's penis..." It was truly disturbing. I really wish I could go back and never watch LOLITA. I used to always think of Skeletor when I saw Frank Langella but now I think "limp old dick". Creepy.

Me and Richard Gere
Richard Gere

Yes, that's me on the left and no, I don't know what I'm looking at. I also don't know why I have a shit-eating grin on my face. After all that waiting and smiling like a moron, he was whisked away by his publicist (the girl whose elbow you can see in the bottom right) after answering the questions of the woman next to me. Can't win 'em all...

Well that's it for now. I had a fun time and there's a lot more pictures that I'll share as soon as they get developed. In the meanwhile, if you're looking for some hot action at the movie theater this weekend, go see UNFAITHFUL. Thanks to everyone who helped make this night happen - you know who you are.
