Vin Diesel teases “love story” for his potential role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

After ackowledging that he met with Marvel, actor Vin Diesel has kept the details of that meeting shrouded in secrecy. However, Diesel has always been a bit of a tease and has continued to let slip a few little hints for fans to play with, even if just to further speculation. In a recent interview with EW, Diesel drops yet another cryptic, but telling, tidbit that opens the doors of discussion once again, saying:

“Marvel was excited about bring a different kind of relationship, a different kind of love story, I guess kind of inspired from the Dom-Letty relationship, into the Marvel universe.”

"Love story" changes everything. I think it narrows down the roles he's been offered to either Thanos or Vision based on those two words. If he's vying for Thanos, then you need look no further than the cosmic villain's obsession with Death, or as she's portrayed in the comics, Mistress Death, a cloaked female figure often seen with a skull for a face (but has varied throughout the years). After losing all he has and succumbing to his base, evil ways, Thanos becomes enamored with this "creature" and follows her every whim and desire, which usually leads to the potential destruction of the universe.

If Diesel is gunning for the Vision, the "love story" piece is simple. Wanda Maximoff AKA The Scarlet Witch is in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and in the comics the two characters have quite the history, even being married at one point. Yes, she married an android. It's comics, man. That would be the obvious route for a "love story" between two characters in an upcoming Marvel film, but again, Diesel is known for being a tease and could easily be toying with all of us. However, the link between this and his prior statement, leads me to believe that the odds are in favor of seeing a red-faced Vin Diesel in a Marvel film, rather than a purple one.

Let the speculation continue…
