SDCC exclusive posters are a dime a dozen, but not all of them will feature the masterful Vin Diesel looking like he belongs in George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones. Enter two new posters for his latest non-FAST AND FURIOUS film, THE LAST WITCH HUNTER. Diesel fans know that the man has a great love for fantasy-inspired tales, and while pictures not featuring him driving cars at reckless speeds haven't quite taken off, it looks like he hopes to change that.
The official synopsis:
The modern world holds many secrets, but the most astounding secret of all is that witches still live amongst us; vicious supernatural creatures intent on unleashing the Black Death upon the world. Armies of witch hunters battled the unnatural enemy across the globe for centuries, including KAULDER, a valiant warrior who managed to slay the all-powerful QUEEN WITCH, decimating her followers in the process. In the moments right before her death, the QUEEN curses KAULDER with her own immortality, forever separating him from his beloved wife and daughter in the afterlife. Today KAULDER is the only one of his kind remaining, and has spent centuries hunting down rogue witches, all the while yearning for his long-lost loved ones. However, unbeknownst to KAULDER, the QUEEN WITCH is resurrected and seeks revenge on her killer causing an epic battle that will determine the survival of the human race.
Frankly, I'm not hoping for anything more than a cheesy good time (official cinema lingo there) with THE LAST WITCH HUNTER, but I'm not completely sold that this will deliver. Fortunately for us, Diesel is usually fun to watch and he has a hell of an inspired supporting cast with the likes of Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood and Michael Caine joining the mix. Who knows? Maybe in a decade from now, THE LAST WITCH HUNTER 6: MORE WITCH HUNTING will break the top five worldwide box-office. Or, ya know, not.
THE LAST WITCH HUNTER hits theaters on October 23, 2015.
