Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and AMC developing new series

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

With the vast success of THE WALKING DEAD, it comes as no surprise that AMC and Robert Kirkman are joining forces for another series. But this time, it will not be zombie related.

AMC and Kirkman announced today that they will begin development on THIEF OF THIEVES, based on the comic created by Kirkman. The comic, which just published its first issue in February, focuses on master thief Conrad Paulson who, while attempting to reconcile with his estranged wife and son, vows to walk the straight and narrow, only to discover he’s completely addicted to the thrill of stealing. Now he must feed his addiction by stealing only what has been stolen, as the “Thief of Thieves.”

According to Kirkman: Much like THE WALKING DEAD brought horror to television in a unique and groundbreaking way, I feel THIEF OF THIEVES can do the same thing for heist stories, showing the humanity of all the characters, including the criminals.

While Kirkman created THIEF OF THIEVES, a different head writer takes over each story arc. Kirkman still writes every issue of THE WALKING DEAD.

Every series AMC has broadcast has been excellent and rivals the quality often restricted to HBO and Showtime. No start date was given for the new show, but expect that AMC will give it at least a full season order.
