Watch the last filmed work from the late Restrepo director Tim Hetherington

I was at first going to post this under the "Cool Videos" category but then I realized there's really nothing cool about this. An extremely talented filmmaker and inspiring journalist in Tim Hetherington died yesterday in Libya and there appears to be no end to the violence in the middle east. Not so cool.

But we can remember the work of in Tim Hetherington through both RESTREPO (which if you haven't seen, I'd advise you to posthaste) and this recently released mini-documentary, "Diary." Hetherington uploaded it to his Vimeo account just three months ago and this was what he wrote as he posted:

'Diary' is a highly personal and experimental film that expresses the subjective experience of my work, and was made as an attempt to locate myself after ten years of reporting. It's a kaleidoscope of images that link our western reality to the seemingly distant worlds we see in the media.

It's always sad to lose a filmmaker whose work you admired but Hetherington was really doing more than just making films. He was educating on a harsh reality that seems so far away to those of us whose biggest problems are that the shipping on our iPad2 is delayed.
