Weinstein Company staffers release statement about their “monster” of a boss

Amidst an ever-growing list of allegations against The Weinstein co-founder, Harvey Weinstein, "select staff members of the Weinstein Company staff" have now published a statement via The New Yorker, in the wake of an exposé the outlet recently ran concerning the accused mogul.

According to The New Yorker, the statement was not individually signed by those who drafted the letter, though reports are estimating that a total of about 30 employees were involved in the writing process. Among the many things that are said in the letter, staffers were quick to say that they “did not know we were working for a serial sexual predator,” and that TWC's board had "failed" to monitor Harvey Weinstein's behavior and keep him in check.

As for the concern that the staffers will face charges for being in breach of their company contracts, the group also stated the following: “We know that in writing this we are in open breach of the non-disclosure agreements in our contracts, but our former boss is in open violation of his contract with us – the employees – to create a safe place for us to work.”

In penning the draft for the statement, one TWC staffer told reporter Dana Goodyear of The New Yorker, “This awful helpless feeling of being vilified for something you never knew was creating this feeling of true despair. We have nothing to hide, and are as angry and baffled as you are at how Harvey’s behavior could continue for so long. We ask that the company let us out of our NDAs immediately – and do the same for all former Weinstein Company employees – so we may speak openly, and get to the origins of what happened here, and how.”
