What’s your emergency? 911 & 911: Lone Star Renewed At Fox

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Fox has had good luck building the 911 brand and they’re showing their support to the parent series as well as its spinoff. It has been announced that both 911 & 911: Lone Star have been renewed by the network.

The two procedurals, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, are Fox’s top-rated scripted shows of the season, with 911 ranking in the top 10 on all of broadcast TV in the ever-so-important demographic of adults 18-49. Lone Star, meanwhile, had a big post-NFL premiere in January and has posted steady numbers in its regular home on Monday nights. This will mark the fourth season for 911 and the second season for 911: Lone Star. Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn has this to say about the renewals:

"911 and 911: Lone Star are truly two of the strongest and most thrilling dramas on broadcast television, as well as being centerpieces for Fox Entertainment. Creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, as well as their incredible teams of writers, directors, casts and entire crews, make jaw-dropping, edge-of-your-seat magic in every episode. From Los Angeles earthquakes and tsunamis to Texas-sized tornados and bucking broncos, both shows deliver incredible spectacle with strong, identifiable characters you care about week to week. We eagerly look forward to many more thrilling rescues in both series, which help honor this country’s brave first responders, as well as those around the world."

Networks know the importance of building a procedural brand. CBS has the NCIS trifecta of NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans as well as NCIS: Los Angeles. They also carry FBI and FBI: Most Wanted, which also pulls solid numbers. On NBC, Chicago Wednesdays is a huge hit for the network with Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. & Chicago Med consistently winning the night on Wednesday. Law & Order: SVU is technically a part of this universe as well and NBC will be bringing another Law & Order spinoff to the network that will feature the return of SVU's  Christopher Meloni. The CW has its very own Arrowverse of DC Comics’ shows with ABC seemingly the only network that hasn’t really hopped on this train as of late.

With a week of delayed viewing, 911 is averaging 10.48 million viewers and a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49, while Lone Star averages about 9.1 million viewers and a 1.8 in the demo. Fox says that with multi-platform viewing added in, 911 rises to 16 million viewers, which is the top performer on the network this season, while 911: Lone Star draws 12.3 million multi-platform viewers. 911 stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Rockmond Dunbar, Jennifer Love Hewitt & Ryan Guzman while 911: Lone Star is headlined by Rob Lowe & Liv Tyler.

These renewals will make my mom happy! I personally don't watch either show but I know in a relatively short time they both have become very popular with viewers. Are YOU excited to see them return?
