Why would someone make a fake trailer for Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity?

Normally, I get the whole fake trailer thing. Either you want to show off your supremely good (or often terrible) video editing skills to put together something that could pass as reasonable, or you just want to trick people and get lots of hits on your YouTube page.

This makes sense for films like say, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES or MAN OF STEEL perhaps, but why do it for Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY? The film has floundered to even secure a cast these past months and years, with actors like Robert Downey Jr, Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman all passing or leaving. I think the current cast has Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in the major two roles.

Someone is hotly anticipating the film, as they’re trying to pass off this video as a teaser trailer for the project. Some choppy space footage and zero actors makes it a pretty clear fake, but on this rather slow news day, I thought a few of you might be curious to at least see the effort.

Forgery aside, I hope this film can manage to get itself made, as a Cuaron sci-fi flick is bound to be promising despite casting woes.
