After several months of negotiating back and forth like a tennis ball bouncing between the dividing line of an arena, Warner Bros. has announced that they'll be serving up Will Smith's KING RICHARD for a Thanksgiving release on November 25, 2020.

Directed by MONSTERS AND MEN helmer Reinaldo Marcus Green, the project nets Smith as Richard Williams, the father to rebellious tennis royalty Venus and Serena Williams. As a young man, Williams took tennis lesson from a man known as "Old Whiskey," who gave him the instruction he needed to learn the game inside and out. After seeing tennis professional Virginia Ruzici play on television, Williams took a shine to the idea of his daughters, Serena and Venus, taking the game of tennis by storm. (via Wikipedia)

Zach Baylin is writing the KING RICHARD script, which has Tim and Trevor White producing through their Star Thrower studio. Meanwhile, James Lassiter will produce for Overbrook Entertainment, while Jada Pinkett Smith, Allan Mandelbaum and Caleeb Pinkett are poised to serve as executive producers.

You can catch Will Smith in theaters right now as Disney's Genie in director Guy Ritchie's ALADDIN, with films like SPIES IN DISGUISE, GEMINI MAN, and BAD BOYS FOR LIFE all on the way.
