Will you bite for AMC’s healthy concessions?

Is your fat ass tempted by all the boundless delights that movie theaters have to offer at concessions? Well never fear, AMC is stepping up to offer you a healthy alternative, which you will consider for one second before immediately choosing your popcorn as usual.

The face of movie theater food has been pretty constant for a while now, popcorn, soda, candy, hot dogs, etc, all for a grand total that costs more than your ticket. Well now AMC is doing something to combat all that crap ravaging your body as opposed to just your wallet.

“By bringing healthier snacks into your concession stands, you would be helping our country meet an urgent public health need. Taking this step is also great for audiences and for your business, because people want to see healthier foods in theaters, and when they do, they’ll buy them.”

Will they?

The “AMC Smart MovieSnacks” pack seen above offers “Chiquita Fruit Chips made of pure fruit, a 20-ounce Dasani purified water, an Odwalla Bar of Chocolate Chip Trail Mix and PopCorners all-natural air-popped corn chips.” all for $7. Not bad when you consider how much most stuff costs at the theater.

Deadline says that this offering is being balanced by a price hike in unhealthier offerings to make them prohibitive to buy, like cigarettes. I can’t tell if this is a joke or not, but all I can see that doing is making people with low self control poorer.
