Woody and Buzz in 3D

The world-famous action figures (they're NOT dolls!!!) of the TOY STORY movies are making their return in 2010, and they're doing it in more ways than one. How about three?

Yes, the Pixar-defining franchise is the latest to take advantage of the gimmick where random objects hurl out of the screen and the backgrounds seem to go on forever.

But when TOY STORY 3 arrives in June 2010, it won't be the first time that Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their plastic comrades get extra dimensions -- in the months leading up to the third movie's release, TOY STORY (13 years old already??) and TOY STORY 2 will also be reissued to theaters in 3-D. Oscar-winning Pixar honcho John Lasseter is overseeing the conversion.

There's still no official word on just what the personified playthings will be doing in their third adventure, but since TOY STORY 2 is the rare sequel that improved on the original (and that flick's co-director Lee Unkrich is at the digital helm), no doubt the Pixar crew and the returning voice talent will fully deliver in all available dimensions.
Extra Tidbit: Other upcoming 3-D movies include AVATAR, MONSTERS vs. ALIENS, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND, and maybe a re-release of STARCHASER: THE LEGEND OF ORIN. Just maybe.
