Wreck-It Ralph and Skyfall score new domestic posters (and two international character banners)

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

WRECK-IT RALPH arrives on NOVEMBER 2nd and (no doubt) promptly pushes every single one of my nostalgia buttons.  If you look closely on the poster you’ll notice both Zangief and M. Bison – could this be the Street Fighter movie we’ve all been waiting for? And the most important question of all: will Galaga be present? Because I might cry, though that may be more for all the quarters I sunk into that game than anything else… that and Street Fighter, come to think of it…

Plot recap: Ralph is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, the “good guy” star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.  On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it’s too late?

And then there’s SKYFALL, a film about which little more can be said for fear of 1) repeating myself and 2) spoiling the beauty of this moment.  That being said, stay tuned post-posters for a small SPOILERY supposition for the film’s plot.  In the meantime: November 9th, friends and neighbors.  I think this is my PROMETHEUS/DARK KNIGHT RISES for the fall, in the anticipatory/good sense of that correlation.

Plot recap: In Bond’s 23rd adventure, his loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

SPOILER ALERT again.

This rumor has already been discussed in times past, but Dame Judi Dench is getting on in age and I think it’s fair to say that seeing Ralph Fiennes’ character name of “Mallory” displayed so prominently suggests that there is definitely weight to the thought that he may be taking over for Dench as the new M.  I could definitely dig that, were that to be the direction Mendes and company took with the character/plot.
