Renee Zellweger, Viggo Mortensen and Ed Harris will star in the upcoming New Line western APPALOOSA, which Harris will also direct from a script he co-wrote with Robert Knott. The film, based on the Robert B. Parker novel, follows two men (Harris and Mortensen) who are hired to protect a lawless town and the trouble that brews when a hottie that looks conspicuously like Renee Zellweger shows up. Damn those hot chicks – always causin’ trouble. APPALOOSA will reteam Mortensen and Harris who starred two years ago in A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE. The film is Harris’ second directorial effort after POLLOCK, which he also starred in. Harris can be seen this fall in GONE, BABY, GONE and next year as the main heavy in NATIONAL TREASURE 2. As for Zellweger, you can hear her voice opposite Jerry Seinfeld in BEE MOVIE and then acting in LEATHERHEADS and the thriller CASE 39. Filming on APPALOOSA is scheduled to begin this October in New Mexico.
