Neill Blomkamp’s Chappie gets a release date

It was only last week that we learned of Neill Blomkamp's upcoming sci-fi flick CHAPPIE, and now we've got a release date for the film that is being described as a mixture of both ROBOCOP and E.T. Sony Pictures Entertainment and MRC have also just recently announced that they would lend a hand in producing and financing Blomkamp's next venture into the sci-fi genre with production set to begin this fall.

Right now they have set the film to arrive in theaters on March 27th, 2015 which sees it go against Fox's THE PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR. That being said, it's nice to know that Blomkamp isn't taking a break after ELYSIUM and is jumping right into his next feature. Sharlto Copley as a robot?! Bring it on!

Chappie tells the story of a robot with artificial intelligence that is stolen by two local gangsters who want to use him for their own nefarious purposes.

CHAPPIE stars Sharlto Copley (bottom), Dev Patel and South African musicians Die Antwoord (Ninja and Yolandi Visser).
