News that’s not rad: Point Break is getting the reboot treatment

You want this so bad it’s like acid in your mouth. Wait…no, no I don’t. Alcon Entertainment is going to reboot POINT BREAK.

Chris Taylor and Kurt Wimmer (SALT, LAW ABIDING CITIZEN) wrote the screenplay that will focus on the world of international extreme sports. This version will also include an undercover FBI agent going after a gang of bank robbing surfers. Will they change anything else? No clue. The rest of the plot point are being kept under wraps.

But why? Here are some explanations, sort of:

Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove co-founders and co-CEO’s of Alcon Entertainment said this, “Who doesn’t love the Kathryn Bigelow original and its pure heart-pounding action and thrills? Kurt’s take infuses the story and characters with new twists and settings.”

One of the producers on the project, Michael DeLuca added, “’Point Break’ wasn’t just a film, it was a Zen meditation on testosterone fueled action and manhood in the late 20th century and we hope to create the same for the young 21st!”

Since you can’t see me, I’m currently rolling my eyes. The original directed by Bigelow starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze is something of greatness. What would Gary Busey have to say about this?
