Ed Norton, the new face of tormented scientist Bruce Banner, recently dropped some non-spoiler knowledge, stating that they took a page from Chris Nolan’s playbook and decided: “We’re going to start completely with our own version of this myth or saga.” But he had his share of hesitation in potentially being forever branded the thinner half of Marvel’s monster. “There’s the wince factor or the defensive part of you that recoils at what the bad version of what that would be. And I did that, basically. I said ‘no’ to it a couple of times.” (One of the caveats to his involvement was that he got a few weeks to rewrite Zak Penn’s script.)
He must’ve been fully convinced somewhere along the Hulk’s lonely road — he’s already thinking of more things to smash. “To me the whole thing was to envision it in multiple parts. We left a lot out on purpose. It’s definitely intended as chapter one.” Of course, Ang Lee and Eric Bana may have thought the same thing…
