Writer Ed Solomon confirmed that the first shot on the movie would take place in New Orleans today, July 1, in a tweet he sent out over the weekend. “Monday. Crew call: 7:30. First shot: 9:00,” he wrote. He also posted a blurry photo of a crew dinner on Sunday, writing, “I call this: “Photo From Last Night’s Cast Dinner that Reveals Nothing (So I Don’t Get Into Trouble).”  Or: “How I See Every Group Photo I’m In Anyway.”

Winter also took to Twitter to announce the start of shooting, writing, "Day one. See you on the other side and remember to be excellent."

Solomon wrote the original two movies with Chris Matheson, and both are back for the third outing here. Taking on directing duties is Dean Parisot (GALAXY QUEST, RED 2), with Scott Kroopf and Steven Soderbergh producing. The movie will center on William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Reeves) almost 30 years after we last saw them, now during the time when their band, Wyld Stallyn, was supposed to have changed the world. Turns out, their music hasn’t changed anything at all, and now grown men with daughters they’re going on one more adventure across time.  Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine have been cast as the men’s daughters, Thea Preston and Billie Logan.

Also joining the cast are Beck Bennett as Ted’s brother Deacon, Jayma Mays as Princess Joanna Preston and Erinn Hayes as Princess Elizabeth Logan, with William Sadler returning to the fold as Death. Anthony Carrigan of the hit show BARRY has also joined the cast in an undisclosed role, with many assuming he will be playing Death Jr. alongside Sadler.

So, is everyone finally ready to see this thing? For years there has been a lot of talks and nothing else, but now in a little over a year Bill and Ted will be back on the big screen, albeit with a few more grey hairs, but just as rockin' as ever.

BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC is in theaters August 21, 2020, and you can hear the voice of Reeves in TOY STORY 4 now.
