Prom Night director to helm Deadly Dance Mom with Beverly Mitchell

Paul Lynch has been out of the horror game for a while. Back in the day he directed the classic slasher PROM NIGHT and the not-so-classic slasher HUMONGOUS, but lately he's been toiling away on a variety of TV shows (including, to my delight, the short-lived Baywatch Nights). His last horror-ish project was THE KEEPER back in 2004, but his comeback is right around the corner.

Next month, shooting will begin in Toronto on his newest project, carrying the delicious title DEADLY DANCE MOM. No word on the plot yet, but do you really need to know more?

For the cast, he's nabbed Beverly Mitchell, who played Lucy Camden on 7th Heaven for nine seasons. However, she's also been in SAW II, dying of nerve gas exposure in possibly the least gory death of the series. Mitchell will be playing "a warm-hearted, widowed mother raising her only daughter, Melanie."

She will be joined by Christina Cox, of ELYSIUM and CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK. No word on what character Cox will be playing, but seeing how she's ten years older than Mitchell, it probably won't be the daughter. Although, knowing Hollywood, we can't make that claim for certain.

DEADLY DANCE MOMS is produced by Pasha Patriki and Michael Patrick Lilly. More on this story as it breaks!
