Ron Perlman says Guillermo Del Toro owes it to the world to make Hellboy 3

Guillermo Del Toro fans know not to expect much from the director, especially sequels. Frankly, it is somewhat amazing we got HELLBOY II out of the guy. With the sheer number of ideas and projects he has floating around his head, following up a finished movie is not high on his list. In fact, we should give up hope on a third HELLBOY movie. But that doesn't mean Ron Perlman is going to.

Perlman told MovieWeb that he wants to make the final chapter of the HELLBOY story because it was always meant to have a conclusion that we have not reached yet:

"I've been giving Guillermo body shots for two years. We both walked away from Hellboy II agreeing that there would never be another one. But, with the passage of time, it became clear to me that he really always designed it as a trilogy. He has a very well-articulated idea of what the resolve would look like and it's amazingly theatrical and is epic in scope and would make for amazing cinema, with or without the first two movies. But there are so many questions posed in the first two films that absolutely need to be answered. I said, 'You owe it to the world to finish this trilogy.' I've been giving him Jewish guilt."

In my opinion, HELLBOY II built on the foundation of the first film and delivered a hell of a lot more entertaining movie. With the level of craftsmanship Del Toro has on display in PACIFIC RIM and potentially CRIMSON PEAK, I can only imagine how awesome a third movie would be. I was tempted to say I would be okay with Del Toro producing the third film and not directing, but HELLBOY was his baby from the get go and it would not feel right for someone else to direct it.
