Rosemary’s Baby mini-series finds its leading lady

Okay, so this is awesome. We've been patiently waiting to see who NBC had in mind to star in their upcoming "Rosemary's Baby" mini-series, and today it was announced that Zoe Saldana (pictured) had been given the nod. According to Variety, Saldana will play Rosemary, the iconic young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a darkly storied past. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child.

Initially I was on the fence with this one, but with Saldana leading the way I'd say that it's off to a pretty fantastic start—I can't wait to see where it goes from here, honestly. Hopefully they'll be able to capture the same level of hair-raising paranoia that Polanski's 1968 classic did because it's a pretty unique horror tale that I think could thrive with a four hour mini-series. Time will tell, folks!

This version of the story will revolve around a young married couple who move into a Paris apartment that has a haunted past. After getting pregnant, the wife becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their neighbors will have ulterior motives when her child is born.

NBC announced the “Rosemary’s Baby” mini in December, with Lionsgate TV attached to produce. Project is based on Ira Levin’s 1967 horror novel and is being penned by Scott Abbott and James Wong.
