What exactly that means confuses even Sam Jackson. “I don’t know. Maybe I won’t be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won’t be in it,” says Jackson. He adds, “I saw Jon Favreau at the Scream Awards and we had a conversation. He said, ‘I hope things are working out for you because we’re writing stuff for you.’ Then all of a sudden last week I talked to my agents and manager and things aren’t really working that well.”
How exactly does this happen? It’s not like a deal with Terrence Howard where he became a disruption on set and almost had to be replaced. Everyone loves Sam Jackson. There were huge cheers when he made his appearance at the end of IRON MAN. This is one of those deals that just kinda has to get done if you’re serious about an AVENGERS movie (or perhaps Marvel really isn’t all that serious).
To their credit (somewhat), Marvel released a statement saying they were still in “active negotiations” with Jackson and his reps.
