Sigourney Weaver joins Liam Neeson and Felicity Jones in A Monster Calls

J.A. Bayona's (THE IMPOSSIBLE) A MONSTER CALLS is beginning to take shape with one heck of a cast. The adaptation of the award-winning children’s fantasy novel by Patrick Ness already had Liam Neeson and the beautiful Felicity Jones cast, now Sigourney Weaver has joined the movie. I’ve never read the book but have had an interest in this project since it began; and after looking at the fantastic illustration work done by Jim Kay, I’ve actually got a copy on the way.

Here’s a synopsis of the book:

A MONSTER CALLS tells the story of a boy, haunted by the tree that lives outside of his house- as the tree comes to life every night in the form of a monster that tells him scary stories. The unlikely bond that forms between them gives the story a unique twist, as the monster's dark tales soon become a way of helping the boy cope with some of life's harsh truths including his mother’s declining health and school bullies.

Weaver, who will be reteaming with director Ridley Scott for EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS this December, will play the boy's grandmother with whom the boy eventually comes to live with. Jones will play the mother, and Neeson with his skillful voice is playing the titular monster.

A MONSTER CALLS will hit theaters October 14, 2016. Did I mention Felicity Jones?
