Sony acquires The Bringing, inspired by the true mystery of the Cecil Hotel

Sony Pictures has just nailed the rights to THE BRINGING, a horror spec script written by Brandon and Phillip Murphy and based on an actual place and series of events that will be championed by Michael De Luca, reports Deadline. The actual events that they are referring to is the mysterious death of Elisa Lam, a woman who was found dead in the water tanks on the roof of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. The story surrounding this entire event is about as creepy as real life can get. Her body was found two weeks after her death, and only because the hotel's guests were starting to complain about the taste and color of the water. Oh, the chills!

The creepiest part of this entire thing? There's actually footage of Lam’s bizarre, inexplicable behavior in an elevator just before her death. This story has been turned into what they are calling THE BRINGING, which tells the story of the man investigating her death, and the nightmare he stumbles into. I see a hit on their hands with this one. What a story!

The Cecil Hotel is also the place that killers like Richard Ramirez—an American serial killer, rapist, and burglar—called home at one time or another, and where suicides have occurred. Here's the video of Lam’s strange, final moments.
