Supernatural spinoff Wayward Sisters with Kim Rhodes in the works at The CW

Oh, hell yes! Grab your salted shotgun rounds, get in the passenger seat of the Impala, and shut your cake hole as I blast some tunes in celebration of this exciting announcement! In my search for news, this afternoon, I discovered that The CW is making plans to attempt another SUPERNATURAL spinoff show. Now, I know what some of you must be thinking, "Hasn't this show gone on long enough, already?" Perhaps, but this one is calling upon fan-favorite Kim Rhodes to star in the potential spinoff program, which is set to be titled WAYWARD SISTERS.

In regard to the spinoff's debut, the pilot episode has already secured a place in SUPERNATURAL's forthcoming 13th season. If audiences bring in the numbers, and the execs like what they see, the potential offshoot will tell the story of Sheriff Jody Mills (Rhodes) and a group of troubled young women, all of them orphaned by supernatural tragedy. Under Mills' protecting, they emerge as a supreme monster-fighting force.

While SUPERNATURAL traditionally follows brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester, WAYWARD SISTERS will focus on a sisterhood of girls in a foster-style family. What's also cool is that the show already has plans to bring over characters from the popular series proper, in addition to introducing some new ones as well. WAYWARD SISTERS comes after a backdoor pilot episode which aired during SUPERNATURAL ninth season, entitled Bloodlines, hoped to start its own series. If picked up, Bloodlines would have explored the monster vs. hunter culture of Chicago, with an entirely new cast leading the charge. Unfortunately, there was never enough steam to get the project off the ground. I can only hope that WAYWARD SISTERS has better luck.

Be sure to catch the pilot episode of WAYWARD SISTERS when it premieres as a part of SUPERNATURAL season 13, which is scheduled for an October 12th return to The CW.
