TCM and Criterion are teaming up to provide new streaming service FilmStruck

The Fullscreen streaming service has just kicked off today, and now it's time to talk about ANOTHER streaming service. Yes, Netflix has been leading the pack (with Amazon and Hulu at its heels) but there's plenty more companies looking to get in on the action, and it looks like the latest is from TCM and Criterion. FilmStruck will offer up an ad-free service showcasing more than 1,000 films that are said to placate the "die-hard movie enthusiast that craves a deep, intimate experience with independent, foreign, and art house films." Pricing has yet to be finalized, but the service will become available this fall.

It's completely expected that more and more companies would want to get in on the streaming service action, but as more are created, they become more selective. Netflix has proved that its original content can deliver, but what about the rest? Competition can be healthy, but over-saturation can kill. In any case, we'll see what FilmStruck can offer later this year.
