Tobe Hooper’s Djinn may get a DVD release in November

Just the fact that Tobe Hooper was its director is enough to get a large portion of horror fans interested in DJINN. Unfortunately, it's been a long wait since we first heard that Hooper would be making the movie and it's still not widely available.

Filmed in Dubai in 2011, DJINN was given a test screening in London in December of that year and was shown at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in October of 2013. Outside of those one-time events, the film's only theatrical release has been in the United Arab Emirates and Gulf Cooperation Council region, where it was a box office success.

Various issues have kept DJINN from getting a worldwide release during the four years since it was completed, but soon Hooper fans around the globe may have their chance to watch it on home video. A listing has appeared on the VideoETA website announcing that Screen Media Films will be releasing DJINN on DVD in the U.S. on November 3rd.

Written by David Tully and starring Aiysha Hart, Razane Jammal, and Paul Luebke, DJINN has the following synopsis:

Desperate to put the traumatic loss of their infant child behind them, an Emirati couple return home – but home doesn't provide the comfort they seek. Soon they are tormented by unexplainable events and begin to question if their neighbors are human, or the sinister, shape-shifting demons – the Djinn.

News of a DVD release is something I'm very glad to hear. I've been looking forward to DJINN since 2011, as I'm always up for seeing anything that's made by the man who has given me films to enjoy like THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, POLTERGEIST, EATEN ALIVE, THE FUNHOUSE, TOOLBOX MURDERS 2004, etc. Hopefully this is just the start of the film getting released in multiple countries.
