Tom Holland talks Spider-Man sequel & appearance in Avengers

It's been said a lot – like a lot a lot – but I'm gonna say it again: Tom Holland rocked the shit as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. He came, he crawled, he conquered. His solo movie was fast-tracked, and Marvel’s 2017 calendar was made all the better for it. Marvel's only hope is that everyone likes this new Spidey, because according to Holland there's plenty more on the way.

While promoting next year's LOST CITY OF Z, Holland was asked about his future projects, and though he couldn't go into too much detail he made it known that more Spider-Man is certainly among them (via WWD):

“My next project, I can’t tell you about, but we’ve just finished ‘Spider-Man’ and we’re talking about the second one and who the villain is going to be and where we’re going.”

Though the people at Marvel tend to be known to plan things out a little bit, news that a sequel is already being talked about is often a good sign the studio really likes what they’ve seen. That, or because they're planning for a sequel to be the next time we will see the Wall Crawler after HOMECOMING, as Holland is unsure if he will appear in the next Avengers movie(s) (via Variety):

“It’s all up in the air. I believe some sort of deal is in the mix, but I’m unclear as to what that deal is.”

Though Marvel didn’t get the rights to use Spider-Man until about a year and a half ago, the hero has become a part of the MCU in a big way in that small amount of time. Because of this it’s not surprising Marvel would already be talking about a sequel. Spider-Man is one of the most beloved heroes, and considering the character has finally clicked with modern audiences, pushing him into the limelight is a smart move. Just waiting on some good pictures of Vulture. Waiting…and waiting…and waiting.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING is set for July 7, 2017 with Tom Holland, who you can see before that in THE LOST CITY OF Z on April 21, 2017.
