Trailer: Marcus Dunstan makes Thanksgiving scary with Into the Dark: Pilgrim

There's a good chance that you know what Into the Dark is by this point. A collaboration between Hulu and Blumhouse, the series consists of feature films that are released on a monthly basis and have something to do with a holiday or notable date / event that occurs in that month. Having run through a twelve month first season, Into the Dark began its second season this month with the Halloween-set film UNCANNY ANNIE.

Once we've made it through UNCANNY ANNIE's holiday, the next installment in the Into the Dark series will be released through the Hulu streaming service on November 1st. That one is PILGRIM, a Thanksgiving-themed film that's coming to us from writer/director Marcus Dunstan.

Dunstan is knwon for directing the THE COLLECTOR series, co-writing the FEAST trilogy, and also co-writing several SAW sequels. The Thanksgiving horror story he has crafted for Into the Dark has the following synopsis:

Inspired by true events, in an attempt to remind her family of their privilege and help them bond, Ms. Anna Barker invites Pilgrim re-enactors to stay with them over Thanksgiving. When the ‘actors’ refuse to break character, the Barker family learns that there is such a thing as too much gratitude.

The Thanksgiving holiday wasn't all that relevant to last year's November Into the Dark movie, but it looks like Dunstan is out to make up for that by diving deep into the festivities with his movie… and then ruining Thanksgiving with some maniacal pilgrims.

Bring it on, I say. I'm looking forward to watching PILGRIM.
