STXfilms is climbing aboard the Chris Pine Express after acquiring the U.S. rights to Violence of Action. Spinning out of Basil Iwanyk’s Thunder Road, the project is currently in post-production, with plans for STXinternational to manage the international right and distribute both in the UK and Ireland.
Per Deadline, the JP Davis-penned script follows James Harper (Pine) who, after being involuntarily discharged from the Green Berets, joins a paramilitary organization in order to support his family in the only way he knows how. Harper travels to Berlin with his elite team on a black ops mission to investigate a mysterious threat. Barely into his first assignment, he finds himself alone and hunted across Europe, where he must fight to stay alive long enough to get home and uncover the true motives of those who betrayed him.
Ben Foster, Gillian Jacobs, Eddie Marsan, Fares Fares, Nina Hoss and Amira Casar will join Pine for the thriller.

Iwanyk and Erica Lee of Thunder Road are producing, with 30West’s Dan Friedkin, Micah Green, and Dan Steinman executive producing alongside Pine, Jonathan Fuhrman, Tom Lassally, Josh Bratman, and Thunder Road’s Esther Hornstein.
Pine's Hollywood dance card is mighty full these days. In addition to Violence of Action, he's also set to star in Olivia Wilde's Don't Worry Darling, Janus Metz's All the Old Knives, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon's biographical drama Newsflash, as well as the star-studded reboot of Dungeons & Dragons. Here's hoping that Pine experiences smooth sailing as he bounces from set to set over the coming months, and that Hollywood does everything it can to keep their Golden Boy healthy in such trying times.
