Watch the first 11 minutes of Star Wars doc The Director and the Jedi

No matter your opinions on the movie itself, it can be said director Rian Johnson made a Star Wars movie that got everyone talking with THE LAST JEDI. The movie changed things up a lot and took things down a path we never thought they would go, for better or worse. Johnson is the subject of a special making-of documentary, THE DIRECTOR AND THE JEDI, that explores the daunting task that laid before Johnson in creating the next chapter in the Star Wars saga. The doc screened at SXSW recently, and now you can watch the first 11 minutes, which will be one of the special features on the Digital (today!) and Blu-ray (March 27) release.

The sneak peek shows plenty of BTS moments, including the staging of a key scene between Luke (Mark Hamill) and Rey (Daisy Ridley), Johnson working with producer Ram Bergman, Kathleen Kennedy, and DP Steve Yeldin, the creation of the Battle of Crait and so much more. There’s so much to look at just in this 11 minutes, so surely the whole documentary will be required viewing for Star Wars fans.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is now on Digital and will be on Blu-ray March 27.
