We can expect to see more familiar faces in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The upcoming STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will bring with it many familiar faces from the original trilogy, including Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), as well as C-3P0 and R2-D2. However, in a recent interview with US Weekly, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy revealed that we can still expect to see a few more familiar faces in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Yes. I will not elaborate, but yes!

As this is Star Wars we're talking about, that's probably all Kennedy will reveal until the film is released. We know that Admiral Ackbar and Nien Nunb, both seen in the behind-the-scenes video which premiered at SDCC, will be returning in the film, but the possibility of even more original trilogy characters making an appearance in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is very exciting.

Which original trilogy characters would you like to see pop up in THE FORCE AWAKENS?

Kathleen Kennedy also mentioned that the film may "possibly" contain a shocking plot twist and that twins "could" run in the Skywalker family. Take from that what you will. Kennedy obviously wouldn't spill anything major (or minor for that matter), but she did sing the praises of both Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, whose auditions instantly blew her away.

It’s an interesting thing when you’re casting a film — especially when you’re trying to discover someone — you’re waiting for someone to step into the room in an audition process and claim the role. Daisy came in, met with us, and it was pretty instantaneous that we realized that she really did embody the character we were looking for. And that’s certainly what happened with John too. He claimed the role, and at the same time we realized he had this wonderful combination of an ability to perform drama and a great sense of humor.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will open on December 18, 2015.
