What did you think of…Doctor Strange?

At this point the expectations for the next Marvel Studios film are generally in the good-to-great realm and director Scott Derickson's take on the long-awaited MCU introduction of DOCTOR STRANGE looks to follow that pattern. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Benedict Wong as…Wong, Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius, and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, the newest MCU venture takes us into the magical realm, further expanding the ever-growing comics-to-film universe. So far, the trailers and promos have left just about everyone with a curious excitement for the flick, many hoping it will do what GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY did in terms of showing another side of the MCU.

The reviews thus far have been expectedly solid, with RT's aggregated score sitting at 90% (if that kind of stuff matters to you) and our MFC score hovering at 8.0/10. Our own Eric Walkuski didn't quite love (or hate) the film, saying in his review it "is indeed a different feeling movie than most of the recent Marvel output, while still more or less following the familiar beats of an origin story. It's also one of Marvel's clunkiest movies to date." In my own review, I felt the film was enjoyable enough, but not exactly the slam dunk many are claiming it to be.
